Sam's horse, brought from and named after Bill Ferny, though Ferny abused the horse and sold it for several times its value. Bill was freed before the Fellowship entered the Mines of Moria. He was played by Rastus, a quarter horse/shetland cross, and Shane. In the mountain scenes, he was played as a panta-pony, with two men inside a horse costume because the terrain was too difficult to navigate.
